Humanity has always proudly held tool making as a defining factor, separating us from the lower beasts, throughout our development.
More often than not, these tools, originally used to ease some aspect of human life, evolve into devises used to destroy one
another. Over the centuries humanity has created more and more sophisticated weapons, and defenses. From stone spears to satellite
guided armaments, weapons have been constantly improving for thousands of years.
The following sections will address the advanced technology of some of the military's new equipment, as well as the new
techniques and technology that will improve the human solider itself.
Military technology has remained relatively unchanged over the past thousand years. Besides the replacement of swords
and spears with muskets cannons and other firearms, little has changed in military technology since the earliest of fighting.
The widespread use of firearms didn't alter the style of warfare as much as one would think; it still remained a noble, highly
structured affair for much of the following centuries. It wasn't until the First World War that this began to change.
The First World War ushered in an entirely new way of fighting; technology was used on an entirely new level. The industrialization
sweeping across America and Europe had finally carried over to the military, completely changing the fighting style away from
the structured business it had been for the past hundreds of years. Machine guns, tanks, artillery, aircraft, increased communication,
poison gas and new naval capabilities such as submarines, all saw widespread use in this dramatic world conflict. Since this
time war has been a technological matter, that is, whoever has the best equipment has the advantage. This thinking is key
to the military technology that is in development, and being researched today.
Many new developments are being made in military technology, many of which seem to come straight from a science fiction
film. At first glance many of these ideas seem farfetched, yet all are based on realistic science and possible technology.
Within the next ten years military combat will be a far cry from what it is today, technological advancements will change
the face of the future's wars.
The following sections will address the advanced technology of some of the military's new equipment, as well as the new
techniques and technology that will improve the human solider itself.
